In Need of Food?

Produce to People is a program of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Foodbank driven by the United Methodist Men fellowship group and the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches (AVAC).  The group distibutes produce and other groceries to at-need families in the local community on a monthly basis.  AVAC will be sponsoring distributions in the Allegheny Valley area on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month beginning at 5:30pm.  Anyone who financially qualifies is welcome.  To qualify for the distribution, your total household income should be below 150% of poverty level - see below for income guidelines.  No proof of income is required, participants simply self-declare their income.

Dates, times and locations vary each month. Click here for a schedule of the times, dates and locations of distributions. To qualify for the distribution, your total household income should be below 150% of poverty level - click here for income guidelines.  Please remember to bring a box, a wheeled cart, or durable bags to each distribution.  Often, you will walk away with over 45 pounds of food!  Also, please dress appropriately for standing outside for more than an hour.

Want to Help?

Between 35-40 volunteers are needed each month to distribute food.  Volunteers will set-up the distribution area, register participants for the program, distribute food, assist participants with their groceries, work the back line to keep stock full and clean-up.  Total time commitment is anticipated to be approximately 4 hours, once a month.  Volunteers will begin set-up one hour early.  Please contact the church office for details on volunteering.
